I took a pair of dress shoes here to be repaired because I had separated the sole from the leather upper whilst cutting the rug with my mother at my brother's wedding. The work was done very quickly and was not noticeable by looking at them. I don't understand why the reviews are so low, especially because the negative comments are in regards to the women's faith, which I don't believe have any correlation with the quality of her work. Based upon my experience I would recommend this business to anyone looking for quality repairs done in a timely manner for a reasonable price.
So, I'm not sure if my questioning them on this, they might have decided they didn't want me as a customer. In the end, they said they couldn't do the job.
The next time I had a pair of shoes to repair I took them to the Clinton Shoe Center. Almost as close, equally cheap, and the staff got right to the point--shoe repair.
Professional work. Repaired what other shoe repair shops did not want to do. I am satisifed. I would recommend this shop to others. Regarding comments made by others on this website, yes, there are religious items on the counter, but how is this a problem? Clearly the owner is religious, and has a right to be religious, even in her business. It is, after all, her shop. How is it that we want to be to be inclusive and diverse, unless the object of our inclusion doesn't fit our picture? Only a Scrooge would reply to a "Beautiful day" greeting by muttering to himself that he came to have his shoes repaired, not to talk about the weather. One can only pity the Scrooges.
I second Crama Rama's experience. I went into this shop to repair a pair of shoes.
Then after she noticed me we started making small talk before talking about the shoe repair, and she kept mentioning, "isn't it a beautiful day that Jesus made?" and similar comments.
First I went into the shop and the owner--or at least the person behind the counter, I'm not sure as she never identified herself--was so busy talking with someone in the back that she didn't notice me. The shop was rather dark and full of stuff, so I can kind of see how she might not have seen me at first.
It seems as though this type of work would be quite common, and a large part of any shoe repair's business.
Anyway, I'm now looking on the net to see if there is a way I can purchase the necessary parts to do it myself.
I went in to see if a pair of Vasque hiking boots could be resoled. These are the type of boot (like most are now) that have the sole glued to the uppers. The uppers are in great shape, just the tread is worn out.
The first thing I saw on the counter was a miniature of the Ten Commandments monument that now ex-Judge Roy Stewart Moore had at the Columbia South Carolina state capital on display. I asked as to why they would be promoting such a thing. And, they went through their reasons, which I answered, that mixing their fundamental beliefs in with their business might chase away certain customers. They didn't care.
In the end they took my shoes and repaired them decently and cheaply, but nodding along to her comments about Jesus at a place where I came to get my shoes repaired seemed kind of strange and unsettling.
I called to get an estimate on a repair and she was absolutely rude and nasty. Then I said ok thank u and she hung up on me. Will NEVER GO THERE!!!!! RUDE
