Majority of the staff is rude. They don't greet you when cashing out (nor do they say goodbye), nor are they helpful. They have an apparent "I'm better than you" attitude. Better off shopping online - your online shopping cart can't make rude remarks to you while cashing out & it's certainly easier to find items online.
I've gone to the Ulta in New Hartford about 9 times at the most. Each of my visits I buy products that add up to be over $20. For the amount of times and money I've spent there I have receive help or a greeting by a worker there. Though the register girls are fairly friendly the others aren't. Other customers are quickly greeted and helped until they are satisfied whereas I am left trying to find my product. Which brings me to my second point. On ultas website it says that NYX and other makeup brands have black lipstick, I cannot find it any where in the store. I will not be shopping there, I will take my money else where to spend.
Generally speaking, I love Ulta! This particular store is a bit behind the times, has mostly drugstore brands, doesn't have a wide selection and seems to have a sizable clearance area. On top of that, the staff don't seem interested in assisting customers, until they are ready to walk out the door...not sure if this is due to poor management, lack of training or the associates no caring. I went in, hoping to find some nail polish, lip sticks, eye shadows and other items; when I did finally get some assistance, the associate took me to an area I had already looked in (nail polish) and kept showing me the exact opposite of what I was looking for. If you have cool undertones, find another store. This one will have nothing for you. The associate who was assisting me didn't seem to know or understand what I was talking about, when I said "I need a good color for cool skin undertones...nothing too warm." Again, not sure if it's lack of training, lack of knowledge or the management of this store hiring folks without much know how. Normally, when I go to an Ulta store location, the staff is friendly, helpful and knows something about the products...or know enough about skin, hair, nails...etc to assist customers with varying needs (if not, they find someone who does). This Ulta is just a subpar, discount cosmetics store.
Wide selection, staff is helpful
I went to another major makeup chain in the area to have my nieces makeup done for her dance recital and was told, "I'm sorry, it's appointment only" and that was that...no trying to help, no trying to see if they could squeeze me in. I went to Ulta, hoping they could do something and they got me in on the spot for not only her makeup, but also her hair. And because my niece is a child, they also gave me a discount, so her makeup only cost $21 (total of $42 with her hair). They did a great job and were super friendly.
